Fundraising
Why should I fundraise for Day One?
Day One Trauma Support is a charity. We don’t receive any government or NHS funding and rely on the kindness of people like you. Your fundraising will help us reach more people who've been affected by a catastrophic injury.
We are the only national charity to provide personalised care to anyone affected by any kind of catastrophic injury, their loved ones and their families – for as long it takes.
How will my fundraising help?
Take on 100k in June and help those affected by catastrophic injury to rebuild their lives.
£160 could pay for 8 emergency packs to help the most vulnerable homeless people leave hospital with dignity after an accident or assault.
£300 could cover the cost of a small emergency grant, helping families with the immediate out-of-pocket expenses created by an accident.
£550 could train a new peer support volunteer. The demand is high for our team of amazing volunteers who have lived their own trauma and now provide people with hope and inspiration during their recovery journey.
Do I have to fundraise to take part in the challenge?
Yes, this event is a fundraising challenge. Every penny raised will help rebuild lives following catastrophic injury.
How can I encourage donations on my fundraising page?
- Share your fundraising page and be loud and proud! You’re doing something amazing so let everyone know.
- Tell your story, let friends and family know why you’re supporting our cause and why their support would mean the world to you.
- Take plenty of photos whilst you clock up your kilometres and share your progress. Make sure you tag us @dayonetrauma so we can celebrate with you!
The Challenge
Is there an entry fee?
Entry is free but this is a fundraising challenge.
Can I do the 100k in June as part of a group?
Absolutely! We’d encourage you to get your friends, family and colleagues involved.
Previously we’ve had teams walking, swimming, cycling, horse-riding and running together to see how many kilometres they could complete.
To sign up as a group, head on over to the 'Register' page and at the bottom there will be a question asking if you would like to join or create a team. One person will need to create the team page at the same time as registering. Once this has been completed, everyone else will be able to register individually and use the search function in this section to join this team page.
100K, too far or want to aim higher?
We understand that 100k maybe too far for some and too little for others. We welcome you to set your own target. The main goal is to get outside, have fun and make a difference.
Whatever your distance, there’s a place for you on Team Day One.
How can I get my hands on a Day One branded T shirt and a medal?
We’ll send you a Day One T-shirt after you sign up.
Raise a minimum of £160 and you’ll receive an exclusive Day One medal to celebrate your achievement!
Can my pet take part?
Yes! Whether it’s walking your dog or riding your horse, all are very welcome to take on the challenge.
