I am taking on 100k in June to raise money for Day One Trauma Support! 🧡

Day One are the only national charity to provide personalised care to anyone affected by any kind of catastrophic injury, their loved ones and their families – for as long it takes.

They don’t receive any Government or NHS funding and rely on the kindness of people like you. Every donation, big or small, brings me one step closer to my fundraising target

Your support today will mean the world to someone recovering from the emotional and physical trauma of a major injury.

New fundraiser!

Wednesday 14th May
I thought it was time to share my story with Day One Trauma!

After visiting me in hospital after finding out there was a patient with life changing injury’s they helped with a small grant for my partner so he could get to the hospital and get what he needed while he was at the hospital.

After a couple of months I started to realise how lonely I was, although people could see what I was going through they never truly knew. Thankfully they couldn’t understand. I was starting to lose myself to a pit of depression and I knew I needed help. I asked for one to one peer support and they matched me with somebody who’d had similar injury’s and similar interests. These phone calls were life changing. I started to feel less scared of my leg, my illazarov frame and using my leg properly. Without this support I wouldn’t have been able to tackle what came with the injury.

I then started to see my savings go down (I’d worked self employed so no sick pay for me!) and that’s when I knew I needed to see if I could get any financial support. They helped to see if I could access benefits and they also helped me access a solicitor who specialised in my type of injury and circumstances. Without Day One I would’ve struggled way more than I needed to.

Walking 100K in June might not seem much, but considering I had to learn how to walk again last year, this is a big deal! I’m also trying to learn how to run again, something which I absolutely adored before my injury.
