My target 100 kms

I am taking on 100k in June to raise money for Day One Trauma Support! 🧡

I’m taking part in Day One’s 100k in June and would be incredibly grateful for any support and donations, no matter how small, every little will help!

Day One are the only national charity to provide personalised care to anyone affected by any kind of catastrophic injury, their loved ones and their families – for as long it takes.

Horse Riding is a high-risk sport – especially Eventing. I’ve had my fair share of falls, concussions, broken bones, and the occasional hospital visit, but have been incredibly fortunate for them to all have been relatively minor.

Raising money and supporting such a fantastic charity as Day One, who help people who haven’t had my level of luck, is something I’m really proud to do.

Reading the stories of recovery and hope from people who Day One have worked alongside, was not only eye opening, but pretty heart wrenching.

In the world of MedTech, we generally focus on fixing a patient’s body, the physical complaints, but it is SO important to not forget about the psychological impact following a traumatic event – on the patient, their families, and their friends.

Sure, you can patch someone up - plates, pins, screws etc. – and get them back out into the world, but that’s only half of the battle. Having the support of a dedicated person who can be there to help you get used to a new normal, offer advice, and support the healing process, whatever that might look like, is invaluable.

I will be tackling the challenge, alongside Maple the dog, and my wonderful horse Peggy - who has assured me she’ll help with some of the kilometers along the way (I promise it’s not cheating!) and hope I can smash my fundraising target with your help!

Let’s GOOOOOO!

Soggy Morning 4.4km

Thursday 5th Jun
Early morning ride today, getting out of the way before a busy day at work! It was raining and miserable, but at least we got it done and it's helping to steadily tick down the distance!

Evening 10km!

Tuesday 3rd Jun
Me and Peggy kicked things off with a steady 10km last night, and a lovely ride around the Yorkshire countryside.

Of course sporting our nice Orange day one t-shirt, which kept us super visible to any passing car drivers!

Not sure our riding app is quite correct, as I did a lot less cantering than it thinks, but maybe it's not quite got the hang of telling the difference between collected, working and medium trot.... (not that we usually do this much dressage practice out on hacks!)

A great way to start the challenge!

Nearly Time To Start!!

Thursday 29th May
My T-shirt has arrived, and Maple is already excited and planning our first hike on Sunday - not sure where yet, but she's certain she wants to do a long one..... weather regardless!
Lets Go!
